About Us
Dog House Diner
Welcome to Dog House Diner, where timeless traditions and comforting flavors come together. I’m Sam Bonus, the proud owner of this iconic American diner. With a deep-rooted passion for the golden era of restaurants and a love for classic comfort food, as a seasoned restaurateur with many years of experience in the industry, my journey began as a dishwasher at the age of 12 at our local Elks Club. This is where my fascination for the industry started. Eventually, I became the head chef at the same Elks Club, although quite a few years later. Honing my skills at the Community College of Allegheny County, where I obtained my apprenticeship that would ultimately lead me to the path of owning one of Washington’s most nostalgic havens that captures the essence of America’s culinary heritage.
Our menu is a tribute to classic American cuisine. From juicy burgers and crispy fries to mouthwatering milkshakes and homemade specials, we strive to serve hearty, soul-satisfying dishes that transport you to a bygone era. Every dish is carefully prepared, using fresh, high-quality ingredients.
At Dog House Diner, dining out is not just about the food but the people and the memories we create. Our friendly and attentive staff are an extension of our family, ensuring that you feel welcomed and cared for from the moment you step foot through our doors. We’ve created a cozy and inviting atmosphere with retro décor and local photos of the City of Washington’s past to transport you back to a simpler time.
Whether you’re a regular seeking your favorite booth or a first-time visitor eager to experience the magic of a classic American diner, we welcome you with open arms. At Dog House Diner, we are committed to providing a dining experience that nourishes both body and soul, where the warm embrace of tradition meets the joy of shared moments.
Thank you for choosing Dog House Diner. We look forward to serving you a slice of Americana and creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Becky Miller was one of the very first waitresses in 1966 at The Original Dog House Diner. “A lot has changed since way back then, but one thing is for sure, we still have the best breakfast in town”
